Planning your first Disney cruise? Here's what almost nobody tells you before you board — and it can save you hours of stress on embarkation day.
Online check-in opens 30 days before your sail date, and Port Arrival Time slots open at midnight Eastern Time — the earliest slots sell out within minutes. If you want the best boarding time, set an alarm.
Your checked luggage won't reach your stateroom until 4-5 PM, so pack a day bag with swimsuits, sunscreen, and a change of clothes for your first hours onboard. Staterooms themselves are usually ready between 1:30 and 2:30 PM — while you wait, grab lunch, explore the ship, or take the kids to the Kids Club Open House, which is only available on embarkation day.
New for 2026: starting June 3, each adult can bring one sealed 750 ml wine bottle or six 12 oz beers in their carry-on luggage on embarkation day — previously this wasn't allowed.
On budget: a weeklong Caribbean cruise in an interior stateroom runs $2,500-$4,000+ per person in 2026. The older ships (Magic, Wonder) start from $90/night per person; the newer ones (Wish, Treasure) start from $180/night.
